Columba`s Comprehensive School, Glenties
The Headmaster of St. Columba`s Comprehensive School
in Glenties is Mr. Michael Naughton. The teachers taking
part in the SchoolSat project are Maureen McDaid and Michael
Ward. Glenties has a population of 520 students, 41 teachers,
2 caretakers, 3 secretaries, 5 ancillary staff.
St. Columba`s comprehensive Schools is one of the first
comprehensive schools built in Ireland and it caters for
academic as well as technical education. First year students
are all offered the same subjects and are not graded.
The school has a well-stocked library and a music room,
two art rooms and a computer room, a woodwork-construction
studies room, a metalwork-engineering room, a technology
room, a technical graphics room, three science rooms,
a gymnasium and lots more.
In St Columba`s Comprehensive School sports are also
very important. Coaching is provided in Gaelic Football,
Soccer, Athletics and Basketball.
