Carndonagh Community School
The Headmaster of Carndonagh Community School is Mr.
Paul Fiorentini. The teachers taking part in the SchoolSat
project are Colm Toland and Michael O'Kane.
Carndonagh Community school, situated in the heart of
the Inishowen peninsula was for many years renowned as
the largest second level school in Ireland. It was formed
from the amalgamation of a Vocational School, a girls’
convent school and a boys’ secondary school in 1974. In
2002 it has an enrolment of 1290 pupils and a teaching
staff of 106 as well as ancillary staff. The pupils come
from a wide rural area which has a number of small towns
and villages. The majority of the pupils come to school
by bus.
Carndonagh takes part in all the major school sports.
Gaelic Football and soccer for both boys and girls are
popular and successful. Athletics, basketball, hurling
etc are also catered for in the school. The school has
also had notable success in public speaking and with its
choirs. The school produces a popular musical event each
year. Last year’s production was “Grease”
